The goal is to determine the smallest faithful mock/test harness that /home/byk/Code/opencode-lore can retain for a V2 Plugin.define adapter.

  • Setup-order hook/transform behavior and immediate read visibility.
  • Boot-time batching that coalesces notifications but never delays registry reads.
  • Per-location instance scoping and same-key sharing only within the same Location.
  • Host isolation.
  • Failed instance construction admitting nothing, cleaning acquired resources, and remaining retryable.
  • Plugin-ID collision rejection and retry reconstruction.
• Tests should favor a real lightweight registry/scope over mocks. A complete host mock already exists at packages/core/test/plugin/host.ts; unused methods die with explicit "unused ..." errors, which is a useful minimal-mock pattern.
• Multiple-location fidelity requires treating the cache key as (canonical Location.Ref, application key), not application key alone. Moving a session must reselect an existing instance at the destination location rather than constructing a third instance.
• Same-location plugin setup must never wait for its own activation. Cross-location worktree operations may wait for the target location’s plugin activation.

Agent configuration naming and hidden workers

• Native V2 configuration uses plural agents; singular agent and mode are legacy compatibility inputs.
• Lore’s internal workers must explicitly use both mode: "subagent" and hidden: true. OpenCode defaults mode to "all" and only honors hidden for subagent-mode agents, otherwise workers leak into the primary Tab picker and @ subagent/skill picker.
• Lore’s 3 workers, in exact order:

• Lore disables native compaction with { auto: false, prune: false } because the gateway handles compaction.

Lore routing and loader decisions

• Lore helper functions remain in packages/opencode/src/internal.ts; packages/opencode/src/index.ts must export only LorePlugin and the same-reference default.
• Reason: OpenCode’s legacy loader invokes every exported function as a plugin. Exporting applyLoreProviderConfig caused its undefined return to enter the hook array and crash with:
  • undefined is not an object (evaluating 'A.event')
• Embedded Lore logging must never make raw stderr writes because OpenCode owns a full-screen TUI. Outside inert tests, log.silenceStderr() suppresses terminal output while preserving file and Sentry logs.
• Gateway-unavailable errors are surfaced through a fire-and-forget TUI toast, not stderr.
• Gateway resolution order:
  1. Reachable normalized LORE_REMOTE_URL.
  2. Reachable normalized LORE_GATEWAY_URL.
  3. @loreai/gateway port file.
  4. Known ports 3207, then 5673.

• Parent-session lookup must never block or throw on the request path. Successful parent IDs and successful null results are cached because parentID is immutable; failures are not cached and retry later.

Plugin lifecycle and registration cleanup

  • Only tool.execute.before may fail with Tool.Error; all other hook error channels are never.
  • Registrations append in order, attach disposal to current Scope, return idempotent { dispose }, and delete empty map entries.

  • trigger() runs matching callbacks sequentially and returns the mutated event.
• packages/core/src/plugin.ts:
  • Keeps one ordered, index-aligned Slot per requested definition, including failed setup slots.
  • Duplicate IDs defect with Duplicate plugin ID: ${definition.id}.
  • Activation preserves only the unchanged (id, revision) prefix and tears down changed healthy suffix activations in reverse order.
  • Failed unchanged revisions are not retried merely because plugins reorder.

  • Transform failure records:

  • Failure is attached to the exact shared Activation, preventing stale queued failures from disabling replacements.
  • Finalizers may await readiness, so cleanup is never joined under the activation lock/readiness hold. Cleanup is forked immediately from Effect.ensuring.
  • Shutdown sets closed, clears pending holds, opens readiness, clears slots, and performs State.shutdown(Scope.close(scope, exit)).
• packages/core/src/plugin/supervisor.ts documents failed revision semantics: “The new revision never became a generation, so the one already running keeps its place.”
• Key cleanup tests:

SDK instances and multiple locations
