Before triggering or changing a release workflow, inspect the repository’s current GitHub Actions YAML, workflow inputs, permissions, checkout/authentication behavior, and recent runs. Use the documented normal Release workflow and its supported inputs rather than assuming versioning or invocation details. When modifying related publish/release workflow code, validate the live workflow state and run focused contract tests before broader test suites.
